Honey Candy

I just had a sweet craving and made this. Its good and the kids loved it. This is a good food storage recipe.

  • 1C Honey
  • 1C Peanut Butter
  • 2C Powdered Milk
  1. Melt honey and peanut butter in sauce pan. I brought to a boil and kept stirring for about 1 min. (the original instructions didn't say how long to cook it but I figure the longer you cook it the harder it will get.)
  2. Add in powdered milk and knead well then roll out on wax paper and cut into 1 in squares. I rolled mine in balls and wrapped in paper. you could probably just leave it in square. The kids were eating it while it was still hot and loving it!

Luke's Blast Ball

Luke started playing Blast Ball last week, it is a preschool version of softball. They hit a ball that is on a tee and run to a base that honks when they jump on it. The other team is trying to get the ball and hold it up in the air yelling "blast" before the kid reaches the base. Very simple.

Luke was really excited about this at first but I have to admit it went a little rocky last week.

The problem is that at this age skill level varies so much just in one year. I think its for kid 4 -5 so the kids who are 5 going on 6 are a little more cordinated at chasing and getting the ball. Luke got very frustrated along with quite a few other kids that they could never get the ball, so eventually Luke just gave up and said he didn't want to play anymore. So next weeks the coach i going to switch it up. All the kids are going to line up and take turns chasing and getting the ball so everyone has a chance. Lets cross our fingers and hope all goes well.

Either way look how cute he is in that baseball cap. My little man!

Kitchen

So I finally got a kitchen painted and put together. There are still a few things I want to do but those will have to wait till after the bathroom is done. I have to say my favorite thing about this kitchen is the mass quatities of cupboard and counter space. I know its not huge but its great for our families needs

Bathroom Renovation

So I am going to try and make this short
  1. Dad's coming into town
  2. Broken bathtub faucet (no showers in guest bath)
  3. James removes faucet and destroys copper piping.
  4. James removes shower wall panel to replace copper piping.
  5. James break pvc piping
  6. James Floods bathroom 3X
  7. Sara repeats in her head "I love my husband, I love my husband, I love my husband!"
  8. Dad calls and says he can't make it.

Okay so I am giving James a harder time than he deserve! I have to say he has been an awesome sport about the whole thing especially since it was my idea to fix it and neither of us really knew what we were doing. He has been pretty much putting the whole this back together by himself (and with the most appreciated help of Colt Cooper).

Now we are still in the process of renovating and tiling the walls but here is picture to show what, the kids call "the broken bathroom", looked like after it flooded the first time. More pictures to come.

Oh the joys of pregnancy (sarcastic). It is now 2:30am and here I am wide awake after laying in my bed trying to fall asleep for an hour. If I could only be this alert during day, Oh! the irony. Well for now I will embrace it and do something productive, tomorrow I will be feeling the consequences. I am only writing this because I suffer from pregnancy amnesia and I want to be able to look back and remember the realities of it.

Nursemaids Elbow FYI

One day back in July we were at the store and Bella was fascinated by the nail polish display after telling her several times not to touch it I grabbed her by the arm and pulled her, and POP. At first I thought she was crying because she was mad but within a minute or two I realized she was in pain. I did not have my cell phone (I had lost it) so I went over to the library to use theirs to call her pediatrician, but between listening to her scream and having tons of people stare at me I couldn't find the number so I just drove straight to the office. When I got there I took her in and they said without even looking at her that they couldn't help me and that I needed to go to Urgent care. When we got to urgent care they said (without even looking at her) they couldn't help and to go to the ER.

Urrrrrrrrrr, can I tell you at this point I almost started crying. My poor baby is screaming in pain with ever movement of her arm and putting her in and out of her car seat was excruciating. It got to the point where as soon as she had her arm in a position where it wasn't moving she would just fall asleep from exhaustion.

Finally at the ER the Dr. sees her and within two moves of her arm it pops back in place (something I could have done myself and will do if it ever happens again) and Bella is completely fine. The ER Dr. told me it is very common in kids under 5 because their ligaments have not tightened yet. Any nurse should should be able to pop it in place. At this point I was a little numb and just happy Bella was better.

Anyways I was very disappointed that day in the medical care we received. I mean seriously it just makes me sad that I couldn't even get one Dr. to take 2 sec to look at her arm before brushing me off and sending me somewhere else.

This was her after everything was better eating her Popsicle the Dr. gave her. She was such a brave girl, poor little thing!

Luke's 1st Day of Preschool

This was a very big and exciting day for Luke. I could hardly get him to eat breakfast that morning, all he wanted to do was go to school, and of course he absolutely loves it! There are six mom who are in the stake out here and we put together a little coop (thanks mostly to the great efforts my friend Kathryn has put forth). I love it because I am not worried about who he is going to school with or what he is learning. I was a little worried about how Bella would be while Luke was gone. She was sad when we dropped him off and she didn't get to go too. After that it was wonderful. Just a little Bella and Mommy time, I am not sure she cared or really noticed he wasn't around. My big boy!

Lunch with Daddy

James was out of town this past week. He got back Friday so we decided to do something fun Sat. First thing in the morning we woke up and drove down to Lewisville to pick up our Bountiful Basket (awesome)! I meant to take a pic (sorry forgot) but it was well worth the money spent. Then we finished off some shopping in the area and headed down to Dallas to go to one of our favorite restaurants. Maggianos! Yum, Yum, Yum! After we walked around the mall and just had fun. Heres some pics. They didnt have a play place that I saw but the did have this random plant thing that the kids loved. They would climp up it and slide down. and right next to it was a little fountain/pond with reall ducks and turtles! so cool.

This picture is dedicated to Samson, we were thinking of you.

Jasper

Bella has been potty training and I told her once she got the hang of it she could get a kitten. Let me tell you I have never seen her more motivated. She would go in the bathroom and just sit on the toilet making all kinds of noises for up to a half hour. After about 4 days of no accidents we went over to the animal shelter and she picked herself out a kitten. We had to wait about 3 days to pick him up because of all the vet stuff needing to be done and it was a long weekend. Finally this past tuesday we picked him up. He is so sweet tempered. The kids are really rough with him and he doesnt seem to mind. When he gets sick of if he just hides. He has been sleeping in Bella's bed with her. She told me the other day that she is the mommy and Jasper is her baby. At the shelter picking out the kitten

Grand Canyon Aug 2010

On our way home from San Clemente we had a little detour at the Grand Canyon. I had never been there before and its one of those things I had wanted to do for a long time. It was cool but I think next time we will wait till our children are a little older. They kept wanting to walk right along the edge (oh the stress).

preggers update

This is me at 20 weeks and it has gotten bigger, I am now 22 weeks (Yay only 18 more to go!). I know they say you get bigger with each pregnancy but seriously I am a little freaked out, not to mention I finally found something to kill my heartburn and so my appetite has been out of control. I absolutely refuse to step on a scale.
This is a picture of my sister with her 5th baby at 40 weeks, she is about 5'5" and a size 4 so she is smaller than me but seriously! This is in my gene pool! Freaks me out!

He's 4!

Happy Birthday little boy! My baby is four. Time has slipped by. He had his actually b-day in Ca with all his cousin. Unfortunately James missed it :( but we did have a little birthday party for him before we left Tx.
We went to Sprinkles in NewPort, its famous for its delicous cupcakes and ours were free because we knew the secret word. I love free stuff!
(dessert 1)
For Lunch we stopped at Ruby's diner. Yummy hamburgers.

Last Minute California Trip

So we ended up taking a last minute trip to Ca. We were there for about 2 1/2 weeks full of fun. Unfortunately James was working so he couldn't come but he was a good sport about it, even though I know he was super sad to miss out on hanging with his famil

My mom who lives in Ut just happened to be going to LA the same weekend we got there so we went up to see her and visited the Science Museum, James cousin Jackie went with me to help with the kids, such a sweet girl! Totally fun and totally free. Just keep a close eye on your kids. There were 3 of us watching the 2 of mine and we still managed to lose Luke (the worst feeling in the world) He was only gone for about a minute and a half but I was panicking.

Bella and Grandma Cherie

Yay for the pink sweet bath tub!
The kids riding the train at the Spectrum in Irvine (Hannah, Brenna, Luke, and Samson)

My good friend Tracie and her babie girl Suri (Samson above is also hers)

Bella posing for the camera on Grandpa's patio. What can I say, the girl can work it!

Heading down to the beach for a bon fire. Bella has a tendency to put her Blue baby in her shirt and then she tells me that she is having a baby too.

Cute little sand crab at the baby beach
Sea World! I can use one word to describe this outting Stress. For some reason Bella decided that she wanted me to hold this hole day and if I wasn't she was crying. AHHHH its stressing me out just thinking about it. Poor baby she had an awful time. I think Luke did have fun though, he had the distraction of James's sister Heather and her kids.

Bella absolutely loved the starfish, she kept calling them Tree Stars (they had recently watch Land Before Time)

Okay this was by far the funniest thing that happened on our trip. I should have had my camera on video tape. When Luke finally got his turn to Elmo he went NUT!!!! He was rubbing his face all over him hugging him and just could not keep his hands off him, even the workers were cracking up.
(Brenna, Luke, and Aunt Heather) I was somewhere off to the side consolling Bella in her fear.
OH and did I forget to mention that Luke didn't wear any shoes. Yay, he told me they were in the car when we were leaving and when we got there no shoes, so guess what he walked around Sea World all day with no shoes. Yes, I am a mean mom.

The thought going through my head at this time
"finally I don't have to hold her and she is smiling"

We were sitting in the splash zone during the Shamu show, to say the least we got soaked. Thanks goodness for garbage bags.
(Sara, Bella, Sonya, Luke)

It was so good it hurt. (Brenna and Heather)

James did surprise me. After my rough day at Sea Worlds I got back to the condo and his sweet face was there. Made my year and it was probably the first time in our marriage that he has actually surprised me. We spent Friday at the baby beach and eating Pedros tacos and then drove home Sat.

Bella and her cousin that she loves! Cameron
