September Update

It was free day at the Air and Science Museum in Dallas. Its was a little bit of a drive but definately worth it. We will be back again. Luke in an old school airplane

I love those boots! Cute girl.

The volunteer asked Luke if he wanted to drive the helicopter, he got nervous and refused until Bella piped up and declared she did, then he hurriedly climbed in as well.

Jasper being a totally silly kitten

Hiking at the lake, and yes that is Oscar he has gotten huge!

Luke found this mushroom and was really excited. He said it looked like a face. Silly kid!

I was reading a book and it was all about being creative with your kids and it suggested putting up a creativity line for your kids artwork. Here is ours its hanging in the kids bedroom.

At the end of September me and James went on a trip for 4 day to Ohio for my sisters wedding. Lots of fun but I sure did miss my kids like crazy!

There is the baby bump I think I was about 26 weeks here. I was standing in the gardens at kirkland. You probably can't tell but it was raining

The kirkland temple. We went on a tour through it, definately a weird experience. Not as spiritual as I thought it would be.

Luke and his Halloween costume. I think he chased Bella around in this thing for about an hour after we gave it to him.

October Mass update

Preschool Halloween Party!
Trunk or Treat
Luke has moved on from Thomas the Train, his new obsessions are Dinosaurs and Space.

When I asked Bella what she wanted to be for Halloween she said, " a sparkly pink princess" this was the outcome. I also decided to waste a bunch of time and crocheted her that pumpkin treat bag. It turned out cute but very time consuming.

Honey Candy

I just had a sweet craving and made this. Its good and the kids loved it. This is a good food storage recipe.

  • 1C Honey
  • 1C Peanut Butter
  • 2C Powdered Milk
  1. Melt honey and peanut butter in sauce pan. I brought to a boil and kept stirring for about 1 min. (the original instructions didn't say how long to cook it but I figure the longer you cook it the harder it will get.)
  2. Add in powdered milk and knead well then roll out on wax paper and cut into 1 in squares. I rolled mine in balls and wrapped in paper. you could probably just leave it in square. The kids were eating it while it was still hot and loving it!

Luke's Blast Ball

Luke started playing Blast Ball last week, it is a preschool version of softball. They hit a ball that is on a tee and run to a base that honks when they jump on it. The other team is trying to get the ball and hold it up in the air yelling "blast" before the kid reaches the base. Very simple.

Luke was really excited about this at first but I have to admit it went a little rocky last week.

The problem is that at this age skill level varies so much just in one year. I think its for kid 4 -5 so the kids who are 5 going on 6 are a little more cordinated at chasing and getting the ball. Luke got very frustrated along with quite a few other kids that they could never get the ball, so eventually Luke just gave up and said he didn't want to play anymore. So next weeks the coach i going to switch it up. All the kids are going to line up and take turns chasing and getting the ball so everyone has a chance. Lets cross our fingers and hope all goes well.

Either way look how cute he is in that baseball cap. My little man!

Serious face
Silly face!Run !!!!!!!!!!!!

Kitchen

So I finally got a kitchen painted and put together. There are still a few things I want to do but those will have to wait till after the bathroom is done. I have to say my favorite thing about this kitchen is the mass quatities of cupboard and counter space. I know its not huge but its great for our families needs

Bathroom Renovation

So I am going to try and make this short
  1. Dad's coming into town
  2. Broken bathtub faucet (no showers in guest bath)
  3. James removes faucet and destroys copper piping.
  4. James removes shower wall panel to replace copper piping.
  5. James break pvc piping
  6. James Floods bathroom 3X
  7. Sara repeats in her head "I love my husband, I love my husband, I love my husband!"
  8. Dad calls and says he can't make it.

Okay so I am giving James a harder time than he deserve! I have to say he has been an awesome sport about the whole thing especially since it was my idea to fix it and neither of us really knew what we were doing. He has been pretty much putting the whole this back together by himself (and with the most appreciated help of Colt Cooper).

Now we are still in the process of renovating and tiling the walls but here is picture to show what, the kids call "the broken bathroom", looked like after it flooded the first time. More pictures to come.

Update

Memorial Day
Good Friends
Good Food
Good Fun
The part you can't see is that she had on her pink n purple rain boots. Quite the outfit.

The food

The Fun! (this is part of our front yard) Yes I did on a different occasion participate in the slip in slide fun, but only when no one besides James and the kids could see me sliding down it like a beached whale.

Ride em cow girl!

Oh the joys of pregnancy (sarcastic). It is now 2:30am and here I am wide awake after laying in my bed trying to fall asleep for an hour. If I could only be this alert during day, Oh! the irony. Well for now I will embrace it and do something productive, tomorrow I will be feeling the consequences. I am only writing this because I suffer from pregnancy amnesia and I want to be able to look back and remember the realities of it.

Nursemaids Elbow FYI

One day back in July we were at the store and Bella was fascinated by the nail polish display after telling her several times not to touch it I grabbed her by the arm and pulled her, and POP. At first I thought she was crying because she was mad but within a minute or two I realized she was in pain. I did not have my cell phone (I had lost it) so I went over to the library to use theirs to call her pediatrician, but between listening to her scream and having tons of people stare at me I couldn't find the number so I just drove straight to the office. When I got there I took her in and they said without even looking at her that they couldn't help me and that I needed to go to Urgent care. When we got to urgent care they said (without even looking at her) they couldn't help and to go to the ER.

Urrrrrrrrrr, can I tell you at this point I almost started crying. My poor baby is screaming in pain with ever movement of her arm and putting her in and out of her car seat was excruciating. It got to the point where as soon as she had her arm in a position where it wasn't moving she would just fall asleep from exhaustion.

Finally at the ER the Dr. sees her and within two moves of her arm it pops back in place (something I could have done myself and will do if it ever happens again) and Bella is completely fine. The ER Dr. told me it is very common in kids under 5 because their ligaments have not tightened yet. Any nurse should should be able to pop it in place. At this point I was a little numb and just happy Bella was better.

Anyways I was very disappointed that day in the medical care we received. I mean seriously it just makes me sad that I couldn't even get one Dr. to take 2 sec to look at her arm before brushing me off and sending me somewhere else.

This was her after everything was better eating her Popsicle the Dr. gave her. She was such a brave girl, poor little thing!
