Hero Daddy 911

We had a scary experience yesterday with Bella. I don't know how many of you know this about her but sometimes when she is really upset she will get so worked up that she can't catch her breathe and she will go unconscious, just for a second and then her body takes over and she starts breathing again. The doctors have assured me that this is totally normal and just a temper tantrum. It was very scary the first couple times this happened did this but it she does once or twice a week so I have grown accustom to these episodes.

So we were at the bank yesterday and Bella got upset because Luke did something. She got herself all worked up and I could tell she was going to pass out so I picked her up ( because I didn't want her to fall and hit her head on something). She ending up going unconscious but this time it was different she didn't start breathing on her own. I yelled at James that she wasn't breathing and he ran over and went into Hero Daddy mode, I was so glad he was there. Her little body was totally limp and she was turning blue. He thought something might be lodged in her throat so he pounded on her back, with to result so he pounded a little more, we could finally hear her trying to breath through her nose but she had been sick and congested so it was forced a faint. James then flipped her over and tried to open her mouth to see if anything was lodged in her throat. When he tried to open her mouth her jaw was clenched really tight, so he just pried it open. When he did that she finally made a deep gasp and started breathing. When she came too a couple seconds later she was hysterically crying and it was one of the sweetest sound I've ever heard.
By this time the bankers had called 911 and the ambulance came a couple minutes later and checked her out, they said she was fine.
Were still not sure what happened. She wasn't choking on anything, she has been sick so maybe she was choking on mucus or maybe she had a little seizure.
Either way it was an experience that really helps but life into perspective and helps you remember how fragile it is. It made me reevaluate my priorities and made me more appreciative of the time I have with my loved ones.

This made me cry. My little niecelet cannot do that ever again! It is not allowed. It is common but that doesn't make it any more comforting. My niece does the same thing and she also has sleep apnea. She just has a problem getting enough oxygen no matter what. Poor bell. I am so glad that James was a hero! Somehow the Dad's always have this super action mode (I'm still on the verge of tears, I'm such a Mom-wannabe). I just freeze out of sheer terror when any child in my family stops breathing, chokes, or whatever. I can deal with cuts, bruises, screaming, and other sort of life or death situations like my nephew almost drowning but not breathing is one of my biggest fears.
